Information / Communications Officer

Southside Partnership DLR CLG is seeking to recruit an Information / Communications Officer

Main Function:

Communicating and promoting the work of Southside Partnership DLR and its services in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, via social media, website, publicity material and publications. Keeping up-to-date with and communicating all relevant information of interest to our clients and other stakeholders. 

 

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Keeping up-to-date on all relevant social media platforms in relation to information that can benefit our clients and enhance our services.
  • Promoting the service through our website, local media and social media platforms in liaison with Management.  
  • Developing, monitoring and improving the communications systems for the organisation, including the development of publicity material and publications.
  • Working with community groups and service providers in the provision of specific information about Social Welfare entitlements, and also in relation to education, training, employment opportunities and supports for our clients.
  • Providing clients with confidential, individual information at a community level.
  • Assisting callers to the service with Social Welfare, Health benefits, Tax queries, etc.
  • Building a resource file of all educational options available to our clients, including local, regional and national opportunities.
  • Identifying all ‘Welfare to Work’ implications, incentives and grants.
  • Assist and liaising with outreach services in community organisations.
  • Liaising with stakeholders and service providers as required.
  • Representing the organisation at various public and community meetings as required.
  • Representing the organisation at career events, job fairs, etc.
  • Working closely with our Guidance Officers and other staff to provide best options for clients.
  • Providing service presentations at group information sessions.
  • Referring clients to other agencies where relevant.
  • Recording all queries and documenting details, together with actions undertaken.
  • Collating information and preparing monthly reports for submission within agreed timescales.
  • Frontline reception support duties when required; providing assistance to our office team; meeting with clients in our reception area and undertaking front-line duties.
  • To undertake other duties as assigned by Management.

 

 

Person Specification and Core Competencies required for the position:

 

  • An awareness of the role and activities of Southside Partnership DLR
  • A clear understanding of the effects of unemployment on individuals
  • Excellent social media skills
  • Experience and knowledge of website maintenance
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate effectively with unemployed individuals, community groups, DEASP and other stakeholders
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Excellent front-line, customer service skills 
  • A relevant qualification in information provision
  • An excellent knowledge of all Social Welfare payments and entitlements; the Irish taxation system; and issues in relation to employment, education and training for unemployed clients
  • Experience and knowledge of personal development, education and training options available to our clients.
  • A good knowledge of all statutory and voluntary organisations that provide opportunities for unemployed people
  • Ability to take initiative and to creatively promote the organisation’s services 
  • Ability to work independently, creatively and effectively
  • Have a current full driving license and you own vehicle

 

Reporting to:                 Local Employment Service Manager

Contract Status:            Full time contract, with annual renewal subject to funding

Salary:                            Commencing at € 24,397 per annum
