    Southside Partnership is offering a part-time course of 3 modules to women who are interested in developing new skills and increasing their confidence.

    Part-time Programme 3 mornings a week:

    When: starting March 1st, 15 weeks (not including school breaks)

    Wed, Thur, Fri 9.30am-12.30pm

    Where: Mounttown Community Facility, Meadowlands, Fitzgerald Park, Lower Mounttown Road, Dun Laoghaire

    Content of Modules:

    Wednesdays: QQI Accredited Level 4 Communications

    Thursdays: Computer Skills - Learn new skills and increase your confidence and ability to use computers

    Fridays: Personal Development - increase your confidence to make decisions, develop plans and set personal and career goals. You have the option of enrolling for all three of the modules or choosing the modules of interest to you.

    Let's Talk Shankill and Southside Partnership are collaborating to present a talk on cyber bullying by John Wills.

    The event will take place on March 7th at 7.30pm at Scoil Mhuire, Shankill.

    The talk will cover the following:

    - Understanding what APPS are being used by children and how they work

    - What steps can be taken to keep children safe online (Exploring the Strategies)

    - Managing Challenging online content (Photography & Sexting)

    - Cyber Bullying (what it is and how to spot it)

    - Setting boundaries around the internet

    - Working with the school if a problem arises

    - How to tackle cyber bullying

     

    John Wills has over 10 years of professional experience in training in the education sector and has delivered trainings in both primary and secondary schools in relation to mental health, bullying, cyber bullying and internet safety.

    His recent training on Digital Citizenship and Safety has been endorsed by the Irish Primary Principals Network (IPPN). He is a member of the Psychologial Society of Ireland as well as the Teaching Council of Ireland.

    Southside Partnership Training Network will be collaborating with the HSE to provide ASIST training to staff and volunteers working with community groups in Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown.

    The training will be for 2 full days at Mounttown Community Facility, Mounttown, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.

    ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. It is suitable for health workers, teachers, community workers, Gardai, youth workers and volunteers.

    This practical skills [free] training programme is an excellent route into employment in the Horticulture Sector.  Located in Cabinteely Park using the fantastic facilities and training location of Cabinteely Park.  The programme is certified at FETAC Level 4.  Modules include:

    - Growing plants and shrubs

    - Growing Vegetables

    - Safe Horticulture Practice

    - Team Working

    - Computers

    - Work Experience

    - Plant Identification
