Spunout.ie Workshop 'Online Safety'

Tuesday, 20. November 2018 - 10:00 till 13:00

Spunout.ie Workshop / 'Online Safety'

Southside Community Training Network will be collaborating with Spunout.ie to provide a FREE workshop to professionals working with young people in DLR on online safety.

Here is some further information about the session:

We live a lot of our lives online so the things we used to only do over the phone or in person are now brought onto the internet, including our relationships and connections with people, the media and entertainment we consume, and much more. Because we are online more, some of the good parts of life can be found online and also some of the negative and dangerous parts of life. So just as we have to be careful with our interactions, our safety, our mental health, and our sexual health in-person, in life, we also have to take precautions online.

Every day we use dozens of apps, websites and online services which share and collect our personal information. In SpunOut.ie's 'Online Safety' workshop, find out about how young people can control the information they share, stay safe when online and confidently navigate any potential challenges that may arise from spending more and more of our time on the internet.

This workshop answers the following questions: How can you protect your information online? What supports exist? What is Cyberbullying and how do we combat it? What should we know about Sexting when it comes to young people and their health and safety?

How do we handle incidences of viral shaming, hate speech, or online sexual and financial exploitation?

The course will be taking place at Mounttown Community Facility on Nov 20th from 10am-1pm.
