Development of the DLR Social Prescribing Programme

Southside Partnership DLR, with support from the HSE, Healthy DLR and other key stakeholders such as the DLR Volunteer Centre, Age & Opportunity and LBS Men’s Shed on the project steering committee, has started to develop a DLR Social Prescribing Pilot Programme since late 2018 which will initially focus on specific areas in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown area (Shankill, Ballybrack, Loughlinstown and Sallynoggin).

Social Prescribing is about supporting the health and wellbeing of people by helping them to connect with a variety of local, community-based activities and supports in their community, such as physical activity classes, art, lifelong learning courses, gardening and more.

Our service is expected to start operating from the end of September 2019 together with the first participating GP in the Shankill area and will be developed further over the next few months.

If you are interested in finding out more please contact the Social Prescribing Coordinator Lisa Sieger-Jamison on 087 737 0372 or email lisa.sieger@sspship.ie.

We are also very interested in hearing from community groups and support services in the areas mentioned as we are mapping the supports and activities available.

We will update on new developments in relation to the DLR project soon.
