Our Community Link Worker is working with local communities across Ireland to support positive responses to the arrival of International Protection Applicants (IPAs). A part of the Community Connection Project (CCP) and using a community development approach, they engage directly with residents to address concerns, community link workers share accurate information, and build understanding around the international protection system. It is about community resilience, countering misinformation, and promoting inclusion before, during, and after the arrival of IPAs.
Working in partnership with local organisations, as well as national stakeholders, Community Link Workers identify areas needing support and help communities organise and plan for integration. They contribute to national learning by sharing insights with the Irish Local Development Network (ILDN) and the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth (DCEDIY), helping shape future policy and develop best practice models. Their work ensures communities are informed, supported, and empowered to welcome new arrivals with compassion and confidence.
