Your Local Area Employment Service (LAES) is an employment support service provided by Southside Partnership DLR (SSP) under contract to the Department of Social Protection. Southside Partnership delivers LAES in Dún Laoghaire -Rathdown.

LAES provides job seekers with the opportunities, skills, training and support required to establish financial independence, whether that be gaining full-time employment or establishing a business.

As a jobseeker, receiving a jobseeker’s payment from Intreo, you have been referred to this service to access support to find employment or establish your own business. Whatever your career goals, our employment service provides you with the opportunity to realise your full potential. We can provide advice and support your need to begin the journey towards achieving your goals.

Your journey with LAES begins with a guided self-assessment and a face-to-face meeting with your Case Officer. From there, your PPP is developed and reviewed every 12 weeks to reflect your evolving needs. You’ll be invited to attend monthly check-ins and receive structured feedback throughout the programme. At the end of the programme, you’ll receive a final PPP including a reference letter and details of any training or work experience completed. You’ll also have opportunities to provide feedback via surveys and discussions, with outcomes communicated clearly.

Explore our Jobs Hub and download the LAES Handbook for detailed guidance. Scan the QR code on the page to access current job listings. Our services are designed to help you feel comfortable, informed, and ready to take action. We also welcome employers to engage with our team and explore how LAES can support recruitment needs. Testimonials from both jobseekers and employers are encouraged and may be featured.

Community Employment (CE) is a programme that helps people who are long-term unemployed, or who face other challenges, to get back into work.

With CE, you can take up a part-time placement (19.5 hours per week) in a local community or voluntary group. You can also take up other part-time work at the same time if you wish.

Becoming self-employed can open new doors. It can give you the chance to use your skills, create your own opportunities and have more control over your time and your life. But while starting a business can be exciting it can also feel a bit daunting. That’s why we’re here, to support you if you want to move from unemployment into self-employment.

We’re here to help you find the support that’s right for you.
